“I didn’t set out to become a Trustee at the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation. It wasn’t on my checklist or part of a grand plan. It started with a simple introduction to Neil Kelly, our CEO, and his team, and from that moment, something clicked.
I began as an adviser to the board, just offering support where I could. But the first time I walked through the doors of the Foundation and met the team (and a remarkable participant named Keith) I felt something shift. The joy, the energy, the sheer sense of purpose in that room was magnetic. I was hooked.
The Warrington Wolves badge might suggest it’s all about rugby. But the more time I spent with the Foundation, I quickly realised it’s about so much more. It’s a symbol of pride, unity, and hope. It’s about building a happier, healthier community where everyone feels they belong, regardless of background or ability.

What drew me in wasn’t just the mission, it was the people. The team behind the Foundation radiates passion and drive. They work together with a shared vision and an infectious energy that makes you want to roll up your sleeves and get involved.
As the governance lead, my role is to help ensure we stay true to our values and mission. Governance might not be the most glamorous part of the Foundation, but it’s vital. It’s about accountability, sustainability, and making smart decisions that protect our future, so we can keep investing in the lives of those who need us most.
Stepping into a Trustee role for the first time was a little daunting, I won’t lie. But I’m lucky to be part of a dynamic, supportive board that shares a deep sense of purpose. And while being a Trustee carries real responsibility, the truth is, the Foundation gives me far more than I could ever give in return.
Sport has the power to change lives. It builds confidence, connection, and resilience. Through the Foundation, we’re harnessing that power to create real impact. For me, being a Trustee isn’t just about oversight, it’s about being part of a movement that brings people together and makes our community stronger.”
