The Future of Road Transport

06 February 2020

Transport is key to providing people with the access that they need to lead full and involved lives and therefore plays an important societal role. However, in order to be sustainable, transport needs to do more than just provide access to jobs, markets, education or other services. It needs to be safe, affordable, accessible, efficient and resilient, while minimising environmental impacts.

In this EdenTree Insight, we will discuss the current challenges facing road transport and look at alternatives to fossil fuels. We will examine how road transport can become smarter, demonstrate the need to decarbonise the sector and explore how to reduce the dependency on individual car ownership.

We will also explore how the low-carbon transition presents new investment opportunities for the responsible and sustainable investor. As road transport evolves to become more sustainable, the environmental, social and governance risks in the automobile sector and wider transport value chain are also changing, and we will examine some of these challenges in more detail.
