UK politics: Volatility risk rises, but the equity story is nuanced

The resignation of Prime Minister Keir Starmer is not, in itself, a major shock to equity markets. The more important question is whether the next Labour leadership preserves fiscal credibility. Until that becomes clearer, we would expect large-cap UK equities to remain better insulated from the effects of the change in leadership than small- and mid-caps.
