The Charity Commission have launched a consultation on their Responsible Investment guidance to charities with the stated aim of exploring how to reduce the barriers that prevent charities from investing responsibly. There are arguments that the case law in this area has been superseded by changes in statute law and the Charity Commission has recently given two charities permission to test this in court. In this one hour trustee training webinar we look at: 

• The current requirements faced by trustees with investments and the proposed Charity Commission guidance changes
• The practical implications of the proposals by looking at Smith & Williamson's (S&W) own approach to Responsible Investment
• The labelling, 'greenwashing' and reporting issues that face investors

We are delighted to welcome our guest speaker Liz Brownsell who heads up the charity team at Birketts LLP who will cover the first part of the programme covering the legal aspects. Inno Van Den Berg will then look at the practical aspects of S&W's approach to Responsible Investment, and Kate Capocci will take a look at some of the many labelling, greenwashing and reporting issues that face investors. The session will end with plenty of time for Q&A.
