Understanding cyber insurance

16 March 2023

One of the most significant emerging threats to your organisation is cyber attacks. 30% of charities said they identified a cyber attack in the last 12 months (Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2022). Cyber attacks can result in data breaches, financial loss, and reputational damage that can be costly and difficult to recover from.

That's why cyber insurance exists. Not as a replacement for implementing good cyber security practices but as protection against the high recovery costs should a cyber attack succeed.

Insurers usually offer cover for data breach incidents, cyber extortion, business interruption, legal expenses and PR crisis communication costs. Unfortunately, there are many varying wordings, so knowing where to start when choosing cyber insurance can be challenging.

That's how we can help you. We advise on and arrange cyber policies for charities, either as a standalone policy or as part of a charity insurance programme.

We have put together a guide for charities on "Understanding Cyber Insurance", which can be downloaded on our website.
