We are pleased to invite you to a charity trustees roundtable where we will discuss the role of philanthropy, markets and investment oversight in today’s charity landscape. 

The discussion will be hosted by Jimmy James, Principal at Minerva Fundraising Consultancy. Jimmy will be joined by Rachel McGrath, Chief Executive Officer of Northamptonshire Community Foundation, and Quilter Cheviot Investment Managers Tom Haydon, Mark Bates and Andy Gray. 

Rachel will speak about the vital role philanthropy plays in connecting generosity with local needs through community foundations. Rachel will outline the philanthropic services the Northamptonshire Community Foundation provides for individuals, trusts and organisations, explain how it works alongside professional advisers to support local giving, and share how the Foundation identifies and responds to needs across Northamptonshire. 

Tom and Mark will comment on the key themes influencing financial markets today and discuss the practical considerations for charities when positioning their investment portfolios. 

Meanwhile, Andy will run through what you can expect from your investment managers and the role they have in supporting charities. Andy will explore key considerations for trustees, including:

• Optimising financial outcomes through clear objectives

• The key investment approaches - pooled funds vs segregated portfolios

• Reputational sensitivities, ethical considerations and responsible investing 

During the session trustees will have the opportunity to share experiences, ask questions and engage with peers in an informal setting.
