About Waverton

Charities, universities and other not-for-profit institutions have valued the personalised service and high quality investment solutions that Waverton has delivered since its establishment in 1986. We understand the complex matters that charities and institutions face. That is why we would work in partnership with you, to ensure that your investments are aligned with your organisation’s objectives and aims.

Our Philosophy

Charities exist to act, and to act is to spend. Whether from income or capital growth (or both), a reasonable surplus must be generated to further the charity’s objectives. Our investment philosophy is to protect the value of our client assets against the negative impact of inflation and to grow these assets in real terms by an amount that equates to the level of risk individual clients are willing to accept.

Absolutely central to our philosophy is a bespoke and flexible service as few portfolios we manage have the same specific requirements. We take time to gain a true understanding of your requirements, objectives and tolerance to risk. This helps you to choose which of our mandates is most suitable for you and for your portfolio manager to build you an appropriate portfolio.

We prefer to invest in individual companies rather than via a third party fund. Our approach is global; this provides us with the broadest and deepest opportunity set to identify companies that will generate superior returns over time. We invest to achieve the objective; securities have to justify their place in a portfolio or fund and positioning is not dictated by weights relative to any benchmark or index.
